Groundbreaking Ceremony for Performing Arts Center

Saugus High School had a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday to start work on a performing arts center.  Currently, all of the arts groups (choir, band and drama) perform either in the school gym or the small MPR.  So, in about two years, they will have a new place to perform!  Ethan and the drum section of the band performed in a drum circle at the ceremony.

Three Hubbard Men

Three generations of Hubbard men attended last Sunday's LA Galaxy game!

May Swarm

Ethan's feeling sad about graduating - that will pass!
I joined my two oldest on stage last weekend for May Swarm.  The theme was graduation and I got a forecast into the future seeing them in cap and gowns.  Wow.

Finally got a purple cap and gown!

Arizona State Report

Ashton just finished up his state report on Arizona.  We had fun learning bits and pieces of Arizona's history and it's famous residents (other than the Deckers, of course.)

Last Birthday Celebration

Mom and Dad Hubbard and our family finally got together to celebrate my birthday last weekend!  I love long birthdays!

Spring Music Recital

Mrs. Rodriguez (Keyboards), Mrs. Ramsey (Choir) and Me
We held our Spring Music Recital this week at SCE.  It featured three performing groups: the choir, the keyboard club and the rhythm group.  I work with the rhythm group this year and had six very talented 6th grade girls.  We performed the Main Theme  from Star Wars on boomwhackers (while wearing masks, of course), the Cup Song and Frere Jacques.  It was a fun night to celebrate our Music students!  I also received an adorable gift from one of my preschool classes.  Such a great week!

Cameron's Strawberry Cup in Camarillo

Cameron and his tournament team competed in the Strawberry Cup this last weekend.  This experience continues to shape him and make him a better player/keeper.  His team came in 2nd for his age division and we are so proud of him!

Captain for Game #3

Paper-link Chain for School Days Left

Ashton has been asking to make our yearly paper chain.  It's nice to be able to rip off those links and see how much more we have.  Al-most done!!!

Cameron Band Concert

Cameron performed his final concert with the Arroyo Seco junior high Advanced band last night.  So proud of him!  The band will be performing next week at Disneyland.

Mother's Day 2016

After such a busy week, I spent Mother's Day getting caught up on details around the house and I LOVED IT!  I was treated to coffee and flowers and then Derrik and Cam headed to a galaxy game.  We met up later with the parents at Olive Garden and I got some photos with the guys!  A great day!

Crazy pics we don't share usually -

Love these boys!

SMART Conference LA

Derrik and I headed to LA to see Dave Ramsey and the group of speakers he had join him.  We heard talks on money, parenting, marriage, boundaries, time management, etc.  A full day but lots of fun!
One of my favorite authors - Henry Cloud
We sat next to a guy that was
sketching during all the talks.  He was
kind of enough to include us in his work!

SHS Band/Color Guard Banquet 2016

Junior medal!
We celebrated Ethan and the marching band and color guard on Friday night.  The band's director, Robert Gibson, is retiring after 27 years.  It's sad to see him go but we're happy that he gave Ethan a chance two years ago and put him in band even thought Ethan didn't know much about drumming.  We had a great night!

Teacher Appreciation Week

SCE celebrated teachers last week!  Ashton had to bring in different gifts for his teacher each day.  Flowers, candy, school supplies, a written note and gift cards.  I received a great poster and lots of love from students.  It was a great week!

Ethan Transformation

Ethan got a haircut this last weekend!  Hurray!  He and Derrik also did some street driving and Ethan learned how to fill the car with gas.

Grandmother Jean bracelet

I finally found a way to remember Grandma Jean that is special to me!  I found a etsy store that creates jewelry out of handwriting.  Love it!
