Easter 2020

We had the Hubbards over for church, lasagna and Texas toast, cheesecake and strawberries!  While it wasn't quite the same, we still had a nice day being together and celebrating.

Easter Bunny brought treats!

Zoom Calls

How fun to be able to connect with my parents and sisters via zoom!  I love seeing their faces and checking in.

Duet with Candice

Candice Kugler and I sang a duet "together" this last week for Easter.  "O Sacred Head Now Wounded" was a song that we did back in high school.  It was fun to sing with her again!  Cameron was a big help editing our videos together.

Masks from Mom

We finally got our homemade masks from Grandma Bonnie!  The boys love theirs, though they hardly ever go out.  Derrik and I can start using our on our next grocery run.  Thank you, Mom!

Quarantine Week 4: Spring Break!

We didn't do much this week except eat out, talk together and hang out.  We went on a few walks, made rice krispie treats and homemade bread and I got another blanket made.  Online school starts back up again tomorrow.  All school campuses are closed for the remainder of the school year.

Blankets, Bread and More

What am I up to?  Well, my hope was to do some online activities for the kids at school but I was told by my principal not to.  I can only imagine the amount of work that goes in to organizing online schooling for all of them, so I'm happy to back off.  What to do with all my free time?

  • I am still making blankets to donate to Project Linus.
  • I dusted off my old bread machine and have been making bread for us.  It's gone in about 5 minutes!  After waiting three hours for it to mix and bake, it doesn't last long!
  • I sent in an encouraging email to our staff on Friday spirit day!
  • Reading, playing cards and working on puzzles!

Date Night - Quarantine Style

Derrik and I have kept up with date night even though we are "locked down" until further notice.  We've been eating take out in our car and picking up groceries.  Not perfect but it works!

Ethan's 21st Birthday!

Yep, it's true, he's 21.  We did our best to celebrate him with gifts and food and lots of love!

Cameron made Ethan a little video - very sweet!  I'll attach it at the bottom.

Band Assignments in Quarantine

Cameron and Ashton have had band assignments due each week.  Cameron plays assigned scales and Ashton plays different drum rudiments, all on video to turn in.  Cameron then gets very fancy and edits the videos to make them extra special.  Here are the highlights:

Homeschooling

Schools here are shut down until April 13th.  The boys started their online assignments (through Google classroom) today and have things to turn in before Friday.  We're working on a schedule but so far, it's going well!  Derrik spends his days on the phone supporting clients.

Classroom Work

I went in to my classroom on Monday to do some cleaning.  I thought it might be fun to put together a teaching video for some of my students.  I ended up taking it down but it was fun to make some music!
The fruit shakers have gotten a lot of attention over
the last few weeks.

Virtual Church

Normal church is on hold due to the Corona virus so we will be streaming services until Easter Sunday (or longer).  We had church at home with Sadie on my lap and coffee nearby.  It was nice!

New Job for Cameron

Cameron has taken on a second job.  He will continue his camera work at church but is adding in being a soccer coach at the Santa Clarita Soccer Center.  He isn't working currently due to the virus shut down but is excited to continue his training!

Voting with Cameron

Believe it or not, Cameron can legally vote!  We're all mail-in voters, so Derrik and I sat down with him this week and walked him through the process.  Happy voting!

McTeacher Night

I helped serve at McTeacher night for school this last week.  It was so fun to see the kids out side of the classroom and actually meet parents.  Our favorite Bulldog showed up as well!

10 Days of Senior Pictures

I was nominated for the 10 day "Class of 2020 Senior parents" challenge. Over 10 days, I selected an image from a day in the life of my senior and then nominated somebody else to take the challenge. While I did enjoy going back and hunting up fun pictures of Cam, it was crazy to think how fast it has all gone!  Here's the layout in case you missed one:
