Church Outside

Our church was given permission from the county to meet outside!  Church held two services with a limit of 500 per service.  Masks on, 6 feet apart and bring your own chairs.  It was a cool, overcast morning and we even had a little drizzle!  Cameron's been working with the tech team all week to get ready for the services.  We probably won't do it every week, but it was great to be together.

Bass Drum Practice

Ashton got to pick up his bass drum on Monday!  Now, we spend the next few weeks practicing unpacking it from its case, connecting it to the harness and learning how to march with it on.  Then, packing it all up again!  Rehearsals with the other bass drums start next month.  Cameron showed him the "crab" walk so he can practice moving forward and backward while facing left.

Father's Day 2020

We had a great day celebrating our Dads!  Derrik got a Greek dinner on Saturday and a yummy lunch with the parents on Sunday. We finished things off with yogurt out.

Evening in the Back

We spent our evening outside on the back patio!  Cameron was getting photos, Ashton was working with his robot, Derrik and I were reading and loving on Sadie.  It was a fun night!

Cameron's New Drone

Cameron got a used drone from a friend and is looking forward to filming a lot with it this summer!  Stay tuned for lots of new overhead video!

6th Grade Virtual Promotion Video

The 6th grade class promoted virtually this year.  Normally, the students sang several songs.  This year, due to COVID19, I helped direct a video of the statements they would normally share in the ceremony.  I asked both Ethan and Cameron to help!  Ethan handled the music part, Cameron did the video part.  They did a great job!  I also presented awards to some of the music students.

I spent the last part of the week packing up the classroom for summer.  I also grabbed items that will help me teach online this fall.  I may be back to videos but won't know for sure until we get closer to school starting.

Bench Decor

Now that the bench has been sanded and stained, it was time for some decor!  We now have a new seated cushion and pillows.  It looks awesome!

Drumline Results!

We officially have a bass drummer on the drumline again!  Ashton earned a spot as the last drum in the line (just his size).  Both the assistant band director (his teacher, Bobby) and the band director both were very impressed with his audition.  He has a lot of work to do this summer including learning how to move around with the drum on and building up his stamina to hold it for long periods of time.  We're excited and so proud!  Now, let's see what the marching season even looks like!

Before and After This Week

We were able to get an overgrown bush removed from our backyard this last week!  Now we actually see more of the upper part of the yard.  The gardeners said they found a large snake hiding in it!  I'm glad the snake had to relocate.

In other news, Ashton got a haircut!

Drive thru Graduation

Our last graduation event was the drive thru at the park.  We decorated our neighbors van with our signs, extra large graduation hat and extras, and loaded up!  The park was decorated and we were greeted by so many teachers and staff.  It was a quick experience but we were grateful for it!
