We spent our last night at the beach watching the sunset. It was beautiful! The boys did their best to stay dry but after we were there two minutes they were wet! They cannot stay out of the water! :) It was such a great place to end the day.
Well, we bit the bullet and bought season passes to Six Flags Magic Mountain for the summer. We surprised the boys after their last day of school on Friday and took them to spend the afternoon at the park. It was loads of fun! I hung out with Ashton in the younger play area while Derrik took our two older thrill seekers on roller coasters. We spent Saturday there as well! Crazy! The weather was chilly which made the crowds more managable for us newcomers. It will be a weekly event for sure.
Hey for 3 day weekends! We had a fun weekend and surprised the boys with a trip to Hurricane Harbor on Sunday. It's right next to Six Flags Magic Mountain and is the Kansas version of Oceans of Fun. The boys had a blast and were so excited! Lots of people, water, lines and sun! :) We spent the whole day there and would go back again. Next, 5 1/2 days of school left and summer begins!
Thanks for all the birthday wishes, I had a very nice day! The boys didn't know which to celebrate so we just called it Mother's day. Derrik did take me out Monday to celebrate my birthday so both days were equally recognized! ;)
My three treasures We had a nice breakfast out! Birthday cheesecake with the 3-5 candles!
We headed back to Melody Ranch for this year's Cowboy Festival. Here are some photos from our trip. The ranch is a location for many western movies and has a museum that displays some items used in movies (Hulk statue).
We had a very quiet Easter but enjoyed it very much. We spent Easter morning looking (and eating) through the baskets and hunting Easter eggs. We then attended the morning service at church. It was a nice, relaxing day and it ended our spring break nicely!
We took the whole family bowling yesterday! I helped (or supervised) Ashton while he learned how to "take turns" with the rest of the family. It was his first time bowling except for wii, of course. Well, thanks for hanging out with us during our spring break. It was fun and I think the boys had a great week! Have a happy Easter everyone!
We took the kids to the L.A. zoo yesterday. It was Ashton's first trip and he enjoyed seeing all the animals! It was a lot of walking and we didn't plan on Ashton's short legs not handling all of it so Derrik did a lot of carrying him. We all had fun!
The above pictures are "borrowed." :) Don't tell! (shhh!)
I promised myself I wouldn't do this again this year! But, the boys look forward to seeing their daily adventures on the blog and I love to make them happy so, here we go! Day 1: We went to Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark and picked strawberries! They have a large farm, complete with animals and little rides for the kids. Check it out:
Here is the "fruit" of our labor = STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE! Yum!
Derrik and I took Ethan out for dinner on his birthday. We went to Elephant Bar and gave him our last and final gift: the black Nintendo DS he's been dreaming of FOREVER! We included the Lego Star Wars complete saga game that he's also been wanting FOREVER! I'd say he had a great birthday. I know we're proud of him and so thankful that he's in our lives. And, it's official....he's 10!
We celebrated Ethan last Sunday with a party! We took several of his friends out to see "Monsters vs. Aliens" and then went back to our house for cake and ice cream. Did you know that nine and ten year-old boys make a lot of noise? It's true, yep. Lots of noise. Anyway, here's a few pictures of the day:
