Walk to the Drumline

Cameron and I walked about an hour to the grocery store where the Marching band drumline perform.  Ashton's drum teacher leads the drumline and was there.  Derrik and Ashton gave us a ride home.  It was so much fun!

Band - Homecoming Football Game

Cameron and the band played at the Homecoming game on Friday.  No halftime show, but lots of pep tunes and energy from the band section!  Cameron has "adopted" a freshman clarinet, named Ivan.  Their father-son relationship has been fun!

Ashton's Braces

Ashton got braces this week!  After getting them on, we had to switch gears to go to his Back-to-School night.  The advanced band played two songs to start the night off.  He's doing well and we're learning (again) the secrets to eating, keeping teeth clean and talking while wearing braces.  :)

Ethan's Quilt from Grandma Bonnie

Ethan received his t-shirt quilt from Grandma Bonnie!  It's so great to have so many memories wrapped in one place.  Thank you, Grandma Bonnie for the special gift!  We know you've worked so hard on it!

1st Field Show!

We saw the first part of the field show on Friday night at the football game.  Derrik and I worked on the field to help the pit crew move their instruments on the field.  Ethan and Ashton got pictures and video from the stands.  It was a great first performance!  I've added a link to a long video of their entire evening if you're interested.

Cameron's 17th Birthday!

Cameron started his birthday with monkey bread and a few presents.  He got lunch and dinner out followed by chocolate cake!  He had a great day!

Friend Party and Grandparent Party for Cameron!

The birthday weekend kicked off with a friend party at a pizza place to watch the soccer game, followed by a celebration at the grandparents!

First Band/Football Night

Cameron and the marching band performed at the first football game Friday night!  The band did the pregame show and pep tunes in the stand.  This weekend, they'll perform their field show at halftime for the first time!  I love marching band season!

Cameron and Ashton headed back to school on Thursday and had a great first day!

Band Camp Highlights!

Cameron has completed Band Camp!  Two weeks of getting to know the new director, learning drill and working on music.  Hard work in the 100+ degree heat!  We got a quick preview yesterday and are excited to see the show on the football field next Friday.
I snuck up on campus on Thursday and got a few pictures of him on the practice field.  He's wearing a blue shirt.  I included a short video.

  

Ashton tooth extraction

Ashton got four first bicuspids removed today!  Boo!  The good news is 1) he's doing great, 2) they came out pretty easily and 3) next up is braces!  He was so brave and handled it all like a champ.  I, on the other hand, was a mess!  Within an hour of being home he was back to normal.

Ashton 8th Grade Enrollment

Ashton registered for his last year of junior high today!  WOW!  He's taking his regular core classes and is also enrolled in Advanced Band.  It's going to be a great year!
