Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall

 

 

I took Ethan and Ashton with me to see the Vietnam Memorial wall since it was traveling through.  It is the largest traveling replica of the original wall - 80% of the original size but contains all the names.  While we didn't have a name to make a rubbing of, just being there and taking in the memorial was significant. 

This Week

We've had a fun school week!  Ethan had Back-to-School night at the high school and we attended teacher conferences for both of the younger boys.  I spent the week setting up my classroom since I start teaching again this week.  To top things off, Thursday was Pirate day at school!  The weekend was spent attending another Galaxy game with Cameron's friend, Ben, and Derrik and Ethan headed down to Orange County to see a Jars of Clay concert.

Saturday stuff

Saturday was the 6th grade car wash to raise money for the different activities the kids will be doing.  We stopped by to get the van washed and see Derrik and Cameron in action!

 

Cameron had a game later in the day but injured his foot during the first quarter.  He spent the rest of the game watching from the sidelines.  We'll be spending this week trying to let it heal so he can get back in the game next week!

Soccer Beginnings

We just completed our first soccer weekend with Cameron.  His team gathered Friday night for pictures and a small carnival and then they played their first game Saturday morning.  Cameron had a special achievement - he got his first goal!  So excited for him!  The Gold Rush team won 6-1.  Not bad for the first game!

Labor Day weekend

We had a quiet Labor day since we were all recovering from a cold brought home from school.  We did take a quick trip to Apple Valley to spend time with Derrik's dad and then we spent Monday night with some friends at the pool.  Here are some photos I took:

Birthday Party

We finished off Cameron's birthday party weekend by throwing a party for Cameron and a few friends.  We took over a corner of the swimming pool!  It was fun and the boys had fun!

Of course all of Cameron's gifts this year required lots of pieces to be assembled!  Derrik was a champ and even got Ethan in on the projects.  The result was a very happy birthday boy!

Cameron's 12th Birthday!

Cameron has a great birthday!  The day started with chocolate chip pancakes and then he headed to school.  We picked him up for lunch went out to In-and-Out for cheeseburgers.  After school, he wanted a Mocha Cookie Crumble from Starbucks while he did his homework.  Then for dinner, I made Speghetti and Meatballs.  Nothing tops a great day like German Chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert!  (Did I make you hungry yet?)

More Galaxy Fun

Well, Saturday night at the Hubbard household looked a little empty.  Ethan was headed to LA to go to a concert with his friend, Derrik and Cameron had planned to attend the LA Galaxy game.  That left just Ashton and I hanging out at home.  But Derrik surprised us and bought us tickets to the game so we could go as well!  Very fun surprise for us and the Galaxy won against Salt Lake ranked #1!

First Day: Take 2

Ethan started his freshman year today.....wowza.   He has a great semester planned with the core subjects coupled with Game Design and Guitar.  He has friends in almost every class so he left this morning with an excited outlook.  He also got a new look (new haircut)!  So excited for him!
