Saugus High School Football Game

I took the boys to a Saugus High School football game a few weeks ago.  Derrik was on his way back from Minnesota and Ethan hadn't been to one yet this year.  It was Santa Clarita Elementary night and both Cameron and Ashton got a free t-shirt.  We had fun!  Plus, our team won!

Derrik's Birthday!

We celebrated Derrik this week!  He turned 40 on Wednesday.  He had a lovely day and then was celebrated again when his parents came up on Thursday with a yummy cake!  He's decided 40 isn't too bad so far........

Vacation on Mars Performance!

Ashton, his classmates and I have been working hard to get their performance of "Vacation on Mars" ready for show time!  Their performance was last Wednesday and it was so much fun!  Ashton was one of the kids from Neptune.  He had one (shared) line and then sang as well.  He did so well!

SCE Halloween Festival 2013

Our school had a Halloween Carnival last Wednesday and Cameron, Ashton and I went!  Very fun!

Hockey Night

Our school had a Valencia Flyers Hockey night so I took Cameron and Ashton to see them play.  The players had been visiting the school all week as part of our Red Ribbon "Say No to Drugs" week.  Cameron's teacher's son, Mitch, also plays on the team.  We had fun!

Pumpkin Patch 2013

Derrik and I took Cameron and Ashton to the Pumpkin patch last weekend.  We rode the train, climbed the haystack tower and picked out some pumpkins.  We had fun! 

Lake Arrowhead trip

 

We went to the mountains for Fall break and spent two nights in a cabin up at Lake Arrowhead.  Since it was during the week, there wasn't much going on but we still had fun taking a ride on the tour boat (Ashton even got to drive the boat for awhile!), feeding the ducks and taking in what sites were open.

 

 

 

 

The older Hubbards came out and joined us on our last day!  It was so beautiful up there! 

Now, it's back to the routine of work and school.

Visiting Praying Mantis

We have a pet Praying Mantis that keeps hanging out at our house.  Earlier this week, I found it sitting on the flower cross arrangement by our front door.  This morning, I found it sitting on our van.  He's a busy guy!  With all the wind we've had this past week, maybe he's looking to hang on to anything that won't blow away.

Cameron: Team Captain

Cameron returned to soccer this week after being out the last three weeks with a bruised heel.  His first game back he was chosen to be team captain.  He played excellent defense and I included a few photos of him crashing into the opposing teams players!  Better watch out when you go up against Cameron!

Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall

 

 

I took Ethan and Ashton with me to see the Vietnam Memorial wall since it was traveling through.  It is the largest traveling replica of the original wall - 80% of the original size but contains all the names.  While we didn't have a name to make a rubbing of, just being there and taking in the memorial was significant. 

This Week

We've had a fun school week!  Ethan had Back-to-School night at the high school and we attended teacher conferences for both of the younger boys.  I spent the week setting up my classroom since I start teaching again this week.  To top things off, Thursday was Pirate day at school!  The weekend was spent attending another Galaxy game with Cameron's friend, Ben, and Derrik and Ethan headed down to Orange County to see a Jars of Clay concert.

Saturday stuff

Saturday was the 6th grade car wash to raise money for the different activities the kids will be doing.  We stopped by to get the van washed and see Derrik and Cameron in action!

 

Cameron had a game later in the day but injured his foot during the first quarter.  He spent the rest of the game watching from the sidelines.  We'll be spending this week trying to let it heal so he can get back in the game next week!

Soccer Beginnings

We just completed our first soccer weekend with Cameron.  His team gathered Friday night for pictures and a small carnival and then they played their first game Saturday morning.  Cameron had a special achievement - he got his first goal!  So excited for him!  The Gold Rush team won 6-1.  Not bad for the first game!

Labor Day weekend

We had a quiet Labor day since we were all recovering from a cold brought home from school.  We did take a quick trip to Apple Valley to spend time with Derrik's dad and then we spent Monday night with some friends at the pool.  Here are some photos I took:

Birthday Party

We finished off Cameron's birthday party weekend by throwing a party for Cameron and a few friends.  We took over a corner of the swimming pool!  It was fun and the boys had fun!
