School concerts!

I got 2 of 3 concerts finished last week!  One was my choir recital at SCE and the other was the big Christmas musical for Trinity Classical Academy.  I also ran a band assembly for SCE to promote an upcoming band class in January.  A very fun but busy week, for sure!  I have one more performance on Friday and then I'm on vacation!  Yay!

Christmas Concerts at church

Cameron has been volunteering his time to serve on the tech team at the Christmas concerts.  He was allowed to be the camera director for the event and did an amazing job!  The concerts were great!

Twinning with Suzanne

I saw this shirt online and had to get one for Suzanne and I!  With all the busyness and crazy that December brings Music teachers, I figured we could both use a little "happy."  Don't we look happy?

Advanced Band Holiday Concert

Ashton played the triangle, the bell kit at his concert and smiled the whole time!

Cameron missed the concert because he was helping with
tech at the church concerts.

Thousand Oaks Marching Band Exhibition

Due to the Woolsey and Hill fires, several California bands missed attending a competition that would allow them to attend championships.  Our band, Saugus High School Marching Band and Color Guard, was one of those bands.  Thousand Oaks, a community affected by both fires and the Borderline shooting, offered to give these bands closure by hosting an event for bands to play one more show.  We were able to attend and support the band, the Thousand Oaks community and loved every minute of it.  I rode the bus and acted as nurse for the evening.  The event was covered by abc7.  I attached a link to the article and video.

Christmas Tree Decorating

We spent our Saturday after Thanksgiving setting up and decorating the Christmas tree!  We like to get it up early to make sure we get to enjoy it.  It sure is pretty!

Ashton's standing on a chair.  He's way too big to be lifted now!

Thanksgiving 2018

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and went to the Hubbards.  Turkey, chicken, stuffing, potatoes, corn, asparagus, sweet potato casserole, rolls and PIE, PIE, PIE!  Grandma Hubbard made the trifecta of pies - pumpkin, apple and pecan.  We ate, napped, played games, and sat in the hot tub.  It was a great day!

We celebrated Derrik this week!  We had an early party with the parents and a family dinner the evening of his birthday.  He loved his presents and all the love!

Valencia Marching Band Competition: Valencia, CA

Competition #4 happened on Thursday.  I volunteered to the ride the bus and be first aid for the night which means following the band around, carrying a large backpack full of supplies.  It was a windy night and during the performance, color guard poles and rifles took flight and hit a few band members in the face.  I passed out one ice pack!  The band earned their highest score of the season - 77.25 and came in 3rd place!  We only needed one more high score to be eligible for championships.  Our trip to the last competition on Saturday was cancelled by the district due to the fires in the area.  We are in negotiation with the band organization to try and attend championships without the last score we needed.  Hopefully, the band will get to attend.
I'm attaching the video of their performance.

Rampage Competition: COC stadium

We attended our third marching competition of the season last night in the COC stadium here in Sana Clarita.  Saugus played their entire show that they had just finished learning on Thursday!  They game in a few points shy of 3rd place in their division and we'll find out next weekend what our chances are of going on to Championships.  Two more competitions to go!
