Walking time

 I've been getting my steps in for 2022 and am averaging three miles each day, six days a week.  It rained this week and I found some rain drainage in action along the trail!

Ashton's Winter Band Concert

 It's band concert season!!  Ashton and the Concert band performed their Winter Festival Concert this week.  His group performed later at the SCSBOA large ensemble festival and won an excellent rating!

Blankets for Project Linus

I just finished one of my largest donations yet!  I donated 12 blankets to Project Linus.  I loved making these!

Quick visit to Santa Clarita Elementary

 I made a quick stop to my old school site to chat with a friend and was met by several former students on their lunch break.  It was fun to see some of them for the first time in two years!

Chris Renzema concert

Derrik and I, with Cameron and his friend, Brian, went to a  concert in Glendale on Thursday night.  Chris Renzema!  It was a great show with a small enough crowd that we got a great view of the stage.  So fun!  Tell me we're not too old to go to young concerts!

School visits by the Music Teacher!

I've just started visiting two schools per week, teaching between 16-18 classes.  It's a lot of work but boy, have I had fun!  These are all photos taken by the teachers.

Ashton wraps up Rite Aid job

Ashton finished his first job experience!  He did such a great job and we are so proud.  We went to visit him on his last day and had him make us an ice cream cone.

Getting some walking in

I've started off 2022 with walking in the afternoons.  While Derrik either bikes or runs, I have been walking at the same time.  We do have some nice trails in our area!  I got a picture in the Bridgeport area with a lake in the background.

 Ashton needed to fulfill an fine art credit and was placed in art this semester.  Here is some of his artwork!

Ashton turns #17

Happy 17th Birthday to our sweet Ashton!  How can he be 17???  He had a great celebration with his favorite foods and lots of presents.  He did have to head back to school the next day but we did our best to make his day as special as we could.

Maui Adventure Day 7: Maui to Los Angeles

With things pretty well packed up, we took one more walk across the street to visit the beach.  We then went out for a late breakfast to the Kihei Caffe for Banana Macadamian Nut French Toast and a Breakfast Burrito (plus the roosters came out to say goodbye)!  We took a quick look at the ocean from this part of town and then headed to the airport to start our trip back home.  We had an amazing trip!

We're sad to go but happy we came!

Maui Adventure Day 6: Road to Hana

 After doing most of the driving on this trip, Derrik suggested we actually join a driving tour this time!  We hopped in a 12 person van and traveled around the east coast of Maui consisting of 620 curves and 59 bridges!  Our stops included Pua'a Ka'a State Wayside park for waterfalls, a quick stop for a snack at for Aunty Sandy's Banana Bread, Wai'anapanapa State Park with a black sand beach for lunch and more ocean views than we can count.  Once back at our condo we went out to find authentic shaved ice (pina colada with vanilla ice cream) and souvenior shopping.  We had to wash and vacuum out the car for return tomorrow and begin the process of packing up our things from the condo.  We visited the food carts one more time and then headed back to the condo for the night.
